2007 Irish Oaks Winners
The 2007 Irish Oaks caught Peeping Fawn, trained by Aidan O’Brien and owned by Michael Tabor, in the middle of a winning streak. Peeping Fawn entered the race having already earned a third position in the Irish 1000 Guineas, a second position in the Oaks at Epsom, and a first in the Audi Pretty Polly Stakes, held at the Curragh just two weeks earlier.
After winning the Irish Oaks in style, Peeping Fawn went on to win the group 1 Blue Square Nassau Stakes at Goodwood and the group 1 Darley Yorkshire Oaks – both times with rider Johnny Murtagh.
2007 Irish Oaks Horses
The field for the 2007 Irish Oaks included all of the fillies who secured the top four positions in the Epsom Oaks. The Epsom Oaks winner, Light Shift, took the lead from a furlong and a half out under Ted Durcan. With challenging ground conditions at the Curragh, though, her lead was short-lived and she had to concede as Peeping Fawn made a move to the front and eventually took the race by three and a half lengths.
All My Loving – also trained by Aidan O’Brien but owned by the Niarchos family – took third position in the race, as she did in the Epsom Oaks, and Timarwa came in three lengths back.
